She is originally from Vermont but has lived in North Carolina for about 14 years. She has been a Birth Doula for over 11 years and a Postpartum Doula for over 6 years. Attending well over 500 births has given her a vast range of experience. She has her Associates in Arts at Wake Tech and her Bachelors degree in Psychology from Walden University. She is a trained DONA International Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula, Plus Size Birth Doula Specialist, a Lamaze trained childbirth educator, an Ecstatic Birth Practitioner and is certified in Rebozo and Bengkung Belly Binding and also well versed in Birth Blessing Ceremonies. Melissa believes there is nothing more incredible than witnessing a life entering this world, while watching those laboring “own” their bodies. This is why she loves what she does! Every single day she wakes up excited about this work and she is honored to be a part of every single experience. In her spare time, Melissa loves karaoke, spending time with her children and partner, volunteering for two different non profits, spending time at the beach and simply enjoying life to its fullest.
Infant Feeding Specialist
She had a passion to work in childcare started out at a young age. She began this journey by becoming a camp counselor at the age of 15. She had no experience so they started her out in the nursery. She went back to being a counselor every year until she graduated high school, taking on age groups between newborn to 9 years old. College and life took over, but she just couldn’t find her niche; she always found things she was good at but never anything she was passionate about. It took a friend who saw her heart to suggest a new career. She did her Postpartum Doula and Infant Care training through ProDoula in 2018, and she has been mastering and sharpening her skills to support any family that comes her way ever since. She cares about the mental health and the functionality of families. She looks forward to helping you any way she can. When Tara is not doing birth work you can find her checking out local downtown Durham and Raleigh events, watching movies, cooking, doing yoga or a puzzle.
She is a former child and family psychotherapist, turned Doula and Divine Feminine Catalyst! Her greatest passion is showing up in service to pregnant people and supporting them in accessing the wisdom of their bodies. She is a Certified Holistic Birth Doula through The Matrona, trained as a theatre artist, dancer and yogi. Sarah holds deeply embodied space for self-expression and self-acceptance. Also trained in shamanic energy healing, Sarah values a holistic approach to birth work that’s inclusive of each client’s physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual expressions. Whether holding space for birth, Qoya and Yoga classes, or 1:1 personal healing sessions, Sarah’s prayer is for every expectant person, and every BODY, to feel safe, joyful and empowered!

She graduated in Spring 2018 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in Psychology and moved to Raleigh when she married her husband.
